A review on the methane emission detection during offshore natural gas hydrate production

چکیده
Due to the high energy density, large potential reserves and only release CO 2 water after combustion, natural gas hydrate (NGH) is considered as most likely new clean source replace traditional fossil (crude oil, gas, etc. ). However, unlike exploitation of energy, essence induce production methane by artificially decompose simultaneously collect generated methane. Because uncontrollable decomposition, percolation collection efficiency, emission inevitably occurred during exploitation, which could significantly affect environmental friendliness hydrate. In this review, detection was divided into three interfaces: Seafloor sediment, seawater, atmosphere. Meanwhile, according summary analysis existing technologies devices, it concluded that can identify quantify amount in interfaces, although accuracy different. For quantifying impact predicting diffusion path methane, especially strata should be focus subsequent research.

Detection and Production of Methane Hydrate
We develop a relationship between the sulfate-methane transition (SMT) and average gas hydrate saturation (AGHS) for systems dominated by methane migration from deeper sources. The relationship is explained by a onedimensional numerical model that simulates gas hydrate accumulation in marine sediments. Higher methane fluxes result in shallow SMT depths and high AGHS, while lower methane fluxes ...

متن کاملShallow-ocean methane leakage and degassing to the atmosphere: triggered by offshore oil-gas and methane hydrate explorations
Both offshore oil-gas exploration and marine methane hydrate recovery can trigger massive CH4 release from seafloor. During upward transportation of CH4 plume through water column, CH4 is subjected to dissolution and microbial consumption despite the protection of hydrate and oil coating on bubbles surface. The ultimate CH4 degassing to the atmosphere appears to be water-depth dependent. In sha...
متن کاملMeasurement of Mass Transfer Coefficients of Natural Gas Mixture during Gas Hydrate Formation
In this study, mass transfer coefficients (MTC’s) of natural gas components during hydrate formation are reported. This work is based on the assumption that the transport of gas molecules from gas phase to aqueous phase is dominant among other resistances. Several experiments were conducted on a mixture of natural gas at different pressures and temperatures and the consumed gas was monitored an...
متن کاملExperimental Measurement of Methane and Ethane Mole Fractions during Gas Hydrate Formation
The super-saturation condition has to be provided to form gas hydrates. Consequently, the prediction of the guest molecule fraction in the aqueous phase is crucial in the study of the gas hydrate kinetics. In the present work, several experiments were carried out in a semi-batch reactor in order to determine the mole fraction of methane and ethane during gas hydrates formation (growth stage...
